Woman dead after shooting in Augusta, suspect arrested

AUGUSTA, Ga. () – One person is dead, and another is in custody after a shooting in Augusta early Saturday morning.

According to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, on March 1, at 3:06 a.m., deputies responded to 527 Richmond Hill Road West in reference to shots fired with an individual being shot.

Upon officer’s arrival, they located a 45-year-old female victim, who had an apparent gunshot wound.

The victim was transported to WellStar MCG Health for treatment and later this morning succumbed to her injuries.

Authorities say, investigators with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Division responded to the scene.

After further investigation, investigators were able to identify and arrest, 26-year-old Keondra McBride.

McBride was then transported to the Charles B. Webster Detention Center and charged with Murder.

The investigation is still ongoing.
