Energy payment assistance opens for elderly, homebound in April

BULLOCH COUNTY, Ga. () — Applications for the Energy Assistance Cooling Program opens April 1 for elderly and homebound households.

To qualify, all adult members in the home must be 65 or older, or all adult members are homebound and have a medical note that states they’re homebound.

The program will made a one-time payment to a home’s energy supplier on behalf of eligible households. Eligibility is based on the income of the household.

Starting May 1, all other qualifying households within the income cap can apply. Action Pact said there may be limited funding for households in crisis.

Those who were disconnected or will be disconnected within seven days are advised to contact their local service center. Crisis appointments are only available through calls.

Applications open at 9 a.m. An appointment can be made by calling the number for your county or go to the Action Pact website and click schedule my appointment.

The program is federally funded by the Georgia Division of Family and Child Services.
