CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — Emergency crews were on the scene of a fire at the Illini FS building on East Leverett Road and County Road 1350 East in Champaign County.
A WCIA reporter on the scene said the Thomasboro Fire Department, Champaign County Sheriff’s Office, and Carle ambulances were on the scene.
Chief Operating Officer of Illini FS, Jill Henninger, said they learned about the fire just before 6 p.m. A fire had broken out in one of Illini FS’s spare propane tanks.
“Employees immediately implemented our emergency procedures to contain the fire and contacted the Thomasboro Fire Department. As they worked to contain the fire, a second, nearby fuel truck caught fire also. Both the propane truck and the fuel truck were empty and there were no injuries to employees or first responders. At this time the fire has been extinguished in both vehicles,” Henninger said in a statement sent to WCIA.
Henninger also thanked the first responders who arrived at the scene and worked to control the fire and prevent further damage.
Clean up procedures to remove the vehicles will begin Tuesday morning, Henninger added.
