ORLANDO, Fla. – Tropical Storm Andrea formed in the middle of the Atlantic, marking the first named storm of the 2025 hurricane season.
As of Tuesday morning, Andrea has maximum sustained winds near 40 mph. It is expected to weaken later Tuesday and dissipate by Wednesday night. It is moving toward the east-northeast near 17 mph.

Andrea should stay a “fish-storm,” moving further out into the northern Atlantic.
According to the National Hurricane Center, the tropical Atlantic typically sees its first named storm by June 20, its first hurricane by Aug. 11 and its first major hurricane by Sept. 1.
The next named storm will be Barry.
