BREAKING: First arrest made in Oglethorpe Mall shooting

SAVANNAH, Ga. () – The first suspect of Wednesday’s Oglethorpe Mall shooting has been arrested.

was the only crew on the scene at Chatham County Jail at around 4:30 a.m. Saturday as police booked Aujawan Hymon, age 20.

has matched the information with the arrest to the details of the shooting.

Sources tell Hymon was apprehended in Richmond Hill by SWAT and Savannah Police Department (SPD) around 3:30 a.m. Saturday and was questioned by authorities then booked into jail.

He has been charged with possession of an illegal weapon and is being held without bond.

Hymon has a criminal history dating back to 2023 with illegal weapon possession charges.

SPD released a statement reporting that Hymon and other identified suspects involved in the case have “known gang affiliations” and announced that the names and identities of those involved will not be released at this time.

There are multiple warrants out for arrests in the shooting case.
