TUSCOLA, Ill. (WCIA) – The varsity football game between Tuscola and Fisher, scheduled for Friday, Oct. 10, will not be played.

Neither team will play a week seven game after the Fisher Bunnies opted to forfeit due to injuries.

Fisher had just 18 players available for its week six loss to LeRoy, according to Fisher athletic director Brian Bajer. That number was set to go down for the meeting with the Warriors after more injuries left the team with just 16 available players.

“In the best interest of our players’ health and safety, we believe it’s necessary to take this week to recover and get healthy for the remainder of the season,” Bajer said in a statement sent to WCIA.

He says a majority of the current available players are freshmen and sophomores.

“We are extremely proud of our players and the effort they’ve put in all year, and we’re excited about the continued growth of our program,” Bajer told WCIA. “Coach Palmer has done a terrific job under difficult circumstances keeping these boys motivated, unified, and focused on building a strong program culture. While that progress may not always be reflected in the box score or visible to the public, it’s clearly evident in how our players carry themselves in the hallways, how they support one another, and in their continued motivation to improve every day.

Fisher, 1-5 on the year, is planning to return to action and play the remainder of its schedule after the week off. The Bunnies are set to round out their 2025 season against Central A&M-Okaw Valley and Aurora Central Catholic in weeks eight and nine, respectively.

Tuscola will get a 1-0 win on the books for the week seven contest, improving to 6-1 on the season.

The Warriors sought a replacement opponent for Friday, Oct. 10 but it did not work out, according to a social media post from the Tuscola athletic director.
