STATESBORO, Ga. () — The Louisiana State University women’s basketball team showcased an impressive performance, securing a 118-70 victory over Georgia Southern in Statesboro. The game was notably led by Savannah native, Flau’jae Johnson.
For senior guard Johnson, this match was particularly special as it was the closest she has played to her hometown of Savannah throughout her college career.
Johnson shared the scoring spotlight with MiLaysia Fulwiley, a transfer from South Carolina, as both players contributed 19 points each. They also tallied six assists apiece, highlighting their critical roles in LSU’s commanding win.
Reflecting on the experience, Johnson described it as one of the most memorable days of her time in college basketball.
“The energy was incredible, and I felt the support all around,” she expressed. “Even during turnovers, I couldn’t help but smile all day.”
Johnson was scoreless in the first quarter and then exploded in the second. She recorded three three-pointers in the quarter, along with a highlight behind-the-back assist that sparked a big scoring run from LSU.
The next game for the Georgia Southern lady Eagles will be on Nov. 18 on the road against Missouri State.
