ORLANDO, Fla. – A flight was turned back to the Orlando International Airport on Wednesday due to an “unusual odor,” according to the airline.

Flight data shows that the Frontier Airlines flight initially took off for San Juan in Puerto Rico around 3:30 p.m.

But shortly after leaving, the plane turned around and headed back to MCO, arriving there at 4:40 p.m.

News 6 reached out to Frontier Airlines for more details on why the flight returned. A spokesperson for the airline provided the following statement:

“Earlier today, while en route from Orlando to San Juan, flight attendants on board Flight 1824 reported an unusual odor, which prompted the aircraft’s return to Orlando.

The plane landed safely, and no passengers requested medical attention. However, the four flight attendants did seek medical treatment. A replacement aircraft and crew is being arranged and the flight is expected to proceed to San Juan later this evening.”

According to FlightAware, the flight to San Juan was rescheduled to leave around 9 p.m.

However, no additional information about the incident has been provided at this time.
