NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. – A woman in the country illegally was caught while walking her pug at New Smyrna Beach earlier this month, according to the Volusia Sheriff’s Office.
In an arrest affidavit, deputies said that the woman — identified as Angie Sandoval-Padro, 27 — had been walking her dog in an area of the beach where canines were prohibited back on July 12.
As a result, she was placed under arrest and booked into the county jail, deputies added.
“Deputies contacted ICE, and they advised they would place a detainer on Angie Sandoval-Padro at (the jail), advising she was in the United States illegally and would be under removal proceedings,” the affidavit reads.
Body-camera footage released by the VSO shows the beach encounter, with a nearby woman translating what the responding deputy was saying into Spanish for Sandoval-Padro.

Per investigators, Sandoval-Padro was born in Colombia, though she was living in Orlando at the time of her arrest.
However, no information has been provided at this time about when or how she came to the U.S.
Booking data with the Volusia County Jail reveals that she was released the next day on July 13. She faces a charge of violating county ordinance.
