In a shocking development from Hollywood, Florida, a young couple found themselves under arrest last week in North Carolina. Authorities allege their involvement in the tragic death of their infant, a child whose existence they reportedly denied. Law enforcement officials shared these details.
Alejandro Leon Jr., 21, alongside Samantha Feliz, 20, were apprehended in the rural area of Richmond County, North Carolina. Local law enforcement disclosed that the pair had sought refuge on a family member’s property in the area.
The arrest was the result of a coordinated effort between the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Marshals Service. Both individuals were detained on warrants issued from Florida, labeling them as fugitives.
Feliz reportedly gave birth to a baby girl sometime between December of 2024 and January of 2025, but police have not been able to locate her.
In July 2025, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement issued a missing child alert for “Baby Angelina” and said she may be with Feliz and Leon Jr.
South Florida news outlet WPLG reported that police became involved when a relative came forward in July saying the baby had not been seen since February. The man also told police that the couple made concerning comments about the situation, saying it was a scam to make money and denying ever having a baby.
A warrant from the Hollywood Police Department, obtained by WPLG, said the baby was likely born at home and was never issued a birth certificate, complicating the investigation.
Instead, police relied on photos and videos taken of the baby after her birth. In one photo, from early January, baby Angelina reportedly looked “visibly ill and malnourished” and showed “no signs of life.”
Police also executed a search warrant on a storage unit in Hollywood, where they found baby clothing, a positive pregnancy tests, a handgun, and a blood stained towel. Lab results later revealed that the blood came from a biological child of Feliz and Leon Jr.
Despite extensive searching of the couples prior residences, law enforcement were unable to locate any remains.
Feliz and Leon Jr. have both been charged with aggravated manslaughter of a child, tampering or fabricating evidence, failure to report a death, false information concerning a missing child, and providing false reports to law enforcement.
Jail records indicate Leon Jr. was extradited to Florida and booked into the Broward County Jail on Sunday.
