PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. – Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is set to address the public with a news conference taking place in Palm Beach County this Thursday.
The gathering is scheduled to occur at the site of the Everglades Agricultural Area (EAA) Reservoir project, located along U.S. Highway 27 South.
Joining Governor DeSantis will be Alexis Lambert, Secretary of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. However, the specific topics to be covered during the conference remain undisclosed.
The Everglades Foundation highlights that the EAA is intended to store surplus water from Lake Okeechobee. The water will undergo purification in a nearby stormwater treatment area before being channeled southward to support the Everglades and Florida Bay ecosystems.

The reservoir will also supply freshwater for the Biscayne Aquifer, which is the source of drinking water for millions in South Florida.
In addition, the foundation says the EAA Reservoir will help to significantly reduce the harmful discharges of polluted Lake Okeechobee water to Florida’s east and west coasts.
