TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – In a solemn tribute, Governor Ron DeSantis has decreed that flags across Florida be flown at half-staff this Saturday to honor the victims of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting.
This order encompasses all local and state buildings, installations, and grounds, where flags will be lowered from sunrise until sunset.
On February 14, 2018, a tragic event unfolded at the Parkland school when a former student unleashed gunfire, claiming the lives of 17 individuals and seriously wounding 18 more.
Governor DeSantis has also encouraged all Floridians to participate in a moment of silence at 10:17 a.m. on Saturday, to remember and reflect on this heartbreaking incident.
