WASHINGTON, DC – A landlord in Washington, D.C., has filed paperwork to have U.S. Congressman Corey Mills evicted from his penthouse apartment near the Potomac River.

The filing lists the address at 1331 Maryland Ave. SW, #PH07, Washington, D.C. 20024.

The plaintiff alleges Mills owes $85,009.80 rent on his $20,833 per month rent.

According to the filing, Mills did not pay rent on the property between March 2025 and July 2025.

The documents News 6 obtained from the Superior Court of the District of Columbia also includes a picture of a notice taped to the door of Penthouse 07 that warns a lawsuit will be filed. That picture was taken on Jan. 27, 2025.

News 6 has reached out to Mills’ congressional office for comment.

Questions about the congressman’s finances

In August of 2024, the U.S. House’s Office of Congressional Conduct submitted a report to the U.S. House Ethics Committee recommending an investigation into U.S. Representative Cory Mills’ finances.

In the report, the ethics committee said, “Rep. Mills may have omitted or misrepresented required information in his financial disclosure statements.”

It went on to say, “Mills’s campaign committee may have accepted excessive contributions in the form of personal loans and contributions that may not have derived from Rep. Mills’s personal funds.”

The report claims Mills’ munitions company may have entered into or held contracts with federal agencies while Mills was in Congress.

A statement posted on ethics.house.gov confirms the committee is actively investigating Mills’ finances. It is dated March 27, 2025.

“The Committee notes that the mere fact of conducting further review of a referral, and any mandatory disclosure of such further review, does not itself indicate that any violation has occurred, or reflect any judgment on behalf of the Committee.

In order to comply with Committee Rule 7 regarding confidentiality, out of fairness to all respondents, and to assure the integrity of its work, the Committee will refrain from making further public statements on this matter pending completion of its initial review.”
