(WPRI) — A recall has been issued for certain above-ground pools retailed at The Home Depot, Lowe’s, and online through platforms such as Amazon, Walmart, and Wayfair due to potential drowning risks.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced that this recall pertains to Blue Wave brand pools that are 48 inches or taller. The issue arises from the compression strap encircling the pool, which might serve as a step for children to climb in, even when a ladder is not present, as detailed in the recall statement.

The pools were sold nationwide between January 2021 and July 2025.

Anyone who bought one of the recalled pools should contact Blue Wave for a free repair kit at (800) 603-0475.

Consumers with the pools are advised to either drain the water from them and/or to remain extra vigilant with children while waiting for the repair kit.
