TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WFLA) — The Florida Lottery is celebrating a milestone this week, announcing they surpassed $48 billion in contributions to the state’s education fund, generated from lottery sales.

Since 1988, the state’s Educational Enhancement Trust Fund has supported educational opportunities, enhanced student success, and strengthened Florida’s workforce.

Just shy of $50 billion, the revenue has allowed the program to provide access to higher education and academic and financial support for those attending any Florida college.

The Florida Lottery has also played a significant role in sending those students pursuing higher education with the Bright Futures Scholarship, with more than $9.2 billion allotted to the program. In the 2023-2024 fiscal year, more than $606 million was generated for this scholarship.

“We are excited to celebrate this remarkable achievement,” Secretary of the Florida Lottery John F. Davis said. “The funds generated by the Florida Lottery will support the construction of new classrooms, the enhancement of technologies, and will provide valuable scholarships. These investments are vital in shaping the future of our state and ensuring that every student has the opportunity to reach their full potential.”

The Florida Lottery has also contributed more than $17 billion to support public schools throughout the state, including K-12 programs and construction and $12 billion to public colleges and universities.
