A Johnson City resident faces serious charges following an alleged shooting incident on Tuesday evening, according to authorities in Washington County, Tennessee.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office reported that 76-year-old Tony L. Slagle was apprehended and has been charged with aggravated assault. The charges stem from an altercation on Bill Bennett Road where a woman was reportedly shot in the foot.
Deputies were dispatched to the 500 block of Roack House Road shortly after 11 p.m. after receiving reports of a shooting that had occurred around 9 p.m. that evening.
“Upon arrival, deputies encountered the victim, who claimed that Slagle had shot her in the left foot while they were at a residence on Bill Bennett Road,” the Sheriff’s Office confirmed. “The victim also alleged that Slagle fired several more shots at her, but those missed.”
According to the authorities, Slagle admitted to shooting the woman and acknowledged firing multiple shots as she exited the premises.
The woman was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
He was taken to the Washington County Detention Center. As of Wednesday, Slagle is being held on a $75,000 bond.
