ORLANDO, Fla. (WFLA) — An Orlando man was sentenced to six years in federal prison and three years of supervised release for lying to the FBI in connection with an international terrorism investigation.

According to a release by the Department of Justice, Islam Doci, 47, was sentenced by a judge after he was accused of making false statements in an interview with the Federal Bureau of Investigation relating to the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS), to which he pleaded guilty on Oct. 15, 2024.

According to Doci’s plea agreement and evidence presented during sentencing, Doci promoted ISIS propaganda online, communicated with members of the organization, and sent himself money overseas in support of them while also facilitating the provision of money by others to ISIS.

The release said that a pro-ISIS post that Doci shared online stated: “If Islam is terrorism, then O God give me more of this terrorism until the day I die. If Islam is radicalism, then O God give me more of this radicalism until the day I die.”

Additionally, the release said that Doci celebrated the killing of Americans and provided financial support to ISIS for war.

The FBI interviewed Doci on two separate occasions in relation to these activities, during which Doci lied about his involvement and support of the designated terrorist organization.
