Florida Mother's Arrest: Child Neglect Charges Amid Search for Missing 10-Year-Old

In a concerning development from Margate, Florida, authorities have taken the mother of a missing 10-year-old girl into custody. Passha Davis, 34, was arrested on Tuesday and is currently being held in the Broward County Jail on charges of child neglect.

The missing child, Gabrielle Terrelonge, became the focus of a statewide Missing Child Alert issued by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement on Monday. Gabrielle’s disappearance dates back to June when she was last sighted accompanying her mother at a local Walmart.

Alarmingly, Gabrielle was not reported missing until much later. Her absence came to light only last month after Davis faced accusations of shoplifting, which led to her arrest. Subsequently, the girl’s father, residing in central Florida, officially reported her missing on October 29, as per the report from WTVJ.

The 10-year-old girl was last seen at Walmart with her mother in June and was not reported missing until last month, when Davis was accused of shoplifting and was arrested. The girl’s father, who lives in central Florida, reported her missing Oct. 29., according to a report from WTVJ.

Davis’ attorney did not discuss the whereabouts of the child when appearing in Broward County court on Wednesday, but said she is not guilty of child neglect. Her bond was set at $100,000.

In an interview with WTVJ, Gabrielle Terrelonge’s aunt told the outlet that Davis has mental heath issues and has struggled with homelessness.
