In a significant legal development from Fort Myers, Florida, a 32-year-old man has been sentenced to over two years in federal prison for issuing threats against former President Donald Trump. The sentencing was confirmed by officials on Tuesday.
Christopher Davies, a resident of Cape Coral, admitted to his actions in October and has now been handed a 27-month prison sentence by U.S. District Judge Sheri P. Chappell.
Court records reveal that Davies had penned a letter addressed to an official at the Charlotte Correctional Institution. In this letter, he claimed to have “orchestrated the most daring presidential assassination that this country has ever seen,” explicitly stating, “Donald J. Trump must perish.”

Authorities disclosed that during a subsequent interview with U.S. Secret Service agents, Davies confessed to authoring the threatening letter. He further elaborated on his intentions, expressing a desire to harm Trump.
When asked hypothetically what he would do if Trump was near him, Davies claimed that he would attempt to kill the president with his bare hands, officials said.
