A woman from Central Florida has been arrested in Volusia County after being caught allegedly taking mail from multiple residents, according to Holly Hill police.

Authorities responded to a call on Sunday regarding suspicious activity on the 800 block of Daytona Avenue, where someone was reportedly pilfering mail from neighborhood mailboxes.

The police statement indicated that the suspect continued to collect mail along the northbound stretch of Daytona Avenue even as the investigation was underway. Officers eventually apprehended the suspect at a nearby Dollar Tree store.

The suspect, identified as 36-year-old Carri Miller, was found in possession of mail belonging to 63 different addresses within Holly Hill, officials reported.

All stolen mail has been recovered and logged as evidence, with the U.S. Postal Inspection Service being notified of the incident, the police confirmed.

Now, a notification letter is being sent to each of the 63 addresses to ask the occupants to stop by the police department to fill out a sworn statement for Miller’s prosecution.

Miller also faces 63 counts of petit theft, as well as 63 counts of fraudulent use of personal identification information. She was released Monday afternoon on bond.
