A Florida woman has initiated legal action against a fertility clinic after a shocking discovery revealed her newborn was not genetically hers. Court documents reviewed by Nexstar’s WFLA shed light on this unsettling case that has unfolded in Orlando.

In March 2025, a couple known in the legal documents as John and Jane Doe embarked on their journey with the Fertility Center of Orlando, seeking the assistance of in vitro fertilization (IVF) to grow their family.

With the hopes of welcoming a child genetically theirs, an embryo, believed to be a combination of Jane’s eggs and John’s sperm, was implanted in Jane Doe’s uterus. Nine months later, in December, she delivered a healthy baby girl, referred to in the lawsuit as Baby Doe.

However, the couple, both described as “racially Caucasian,” soon noticed that Baby Doe appeared to be of a different racial background. Their suspicions were confirmed through genetic testing, which revealed the staggering truth: Baby Doe bore no genetic ties to either parent.
