ATLANTA () — A former Georgia Southern pitcher participated in the MLB Futures game, which is part of the MLB All-Star weekend festivities.
Hayden Harris was selected as a pitcher for the National League team. The Augusta, Ga. native is currently on the Gwinnett Stripers.
“I always look back to Georgia Southern,” Harris said. “Really my fifth year. The second half of that season when we ended up hosting a Regional. I think back to when I made the decision to really stop trying to do too much and enjoy my time. I try to carry that approach every day in professional baseball. I love Statesboro. I was there for five years. You kinda gotta love it at that point, you know?”
Harris entered the game in the top of the sixth inning with two outs. He struck out the only hitter he faced on four pitches.
The GSU Alum has made nine appearances at AAA-Gwinnett since being called up in June. His first appearance was on June 11. He has given up seven earned runs in 9 2/3 innings pitched.
