In Columbus, Ohio, the arrest of a former Ohio State linebacker, who was also a first-round NFL draft pick, has made headlines. Darron Lee faces serious legal trouble in Tennessee, where he has been charged with murder.
The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office in Tennessee apprehended Lee, charging him with first-degree murder and evidence tampering. Authorities responded to a residence near an elementary school in the Chattanooga area, where they discovered a woman. Despite efforts to save her, she was pronounced dead at the scene, stated the sheriff’s office.
Following an investigation, detectives classified the woman’s death as a homicide and identified Lee as a suspect. The sheriff’s office indicated that further charges might be brought depending on the ongoing investigation’s results.

Lee is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, as reflected in online jail records.

Last February, Lee accepted a plea deal in a domestic violence case out of Franklin County.
Lee was part of the Buckeyes 2014 National Championship team before he was drafted in the first round by the New York Jets in 2016. After three seasons with the Jets, he spent a year with the Kansas City Chiefs where the team won a Super Bowl in 2019. In 2020, he played for the Buffalo Bills.
Lee’s mother was a reporter and anchor at NBC4 until she left when Lee was drafted into the NFL.
