FORT MEADE, Fla. (WFLA) — The future of a proposed AI data center in Polk County remains uncertain after the Fort Meade City Commission decided to postpone a vote following an extended session of public commentary on Tuesday.

The facility, which would span roughly 2 square miles along U.S. 17, has been a source of contention among residents from Fort Meade and surrounding areas such as Lakeland, Bartow, and Mulberry. Many local citizens have expressed their opposition to the construction of this data center.
