SAVANNAH, Ga. — On October 15, the volleyball teams from Calvary Day, Savannah Christian, Islands, and South Effingham triumphed in their opening round playoff matches.
Calvary Day overcame a shaky start against Prince Avenue Christian. After conceding the first four points, the team rallied to secure a straight-set victory, 3-0.
Meanwhile, Savannah Christian faced off against Atlanta International, a team with a modest record of just eight wins this season. The Raiders dominated from the outset, clinching a decisive 3-0 win.
Islands took the initial two sets against Southeast Bulloch but encountered resistance in the third set. Despite leading by seven points, the Lady Sharks saw Southeast Bulloch claw back to level the score at 24. Ultimately, the Lady Yellow Jackets captured the set, 26-24, but Islands prevailed in the match, advancing with a 3-1 victory.
In Guyton, South Effingham squared off against Apalachee. With the match tied at one set apiece, the Lady Mustangs asserted their dominance in the third set, eventually winning the match 3-1.
