SAVANNAH, Ga. () — Girls Code Savannah is hosting its free fall sessions on coding, open to students in the Savannah-Chatham County area.

In partnership with Live Oak Public Libraries, Girls Code Savannah is hosting four free in-person classes for girls in 5th to 10th grade in Savannah-Chatham County public schools, including home-schooled students.

These sessions will teach girls about coding, technology and the use of artificial intelligence.

What is coding?

Humans and computers don’t speak the same language, so to tell a computer what to do—for example, if you’re building a website or a phone app—you need to learn coding languages. These include HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, Python and more.

Many people have learned coding in recent years. Its use has spread to different fields, making this in-demand knowledge a valuable asset in many industries. With the rise of artificial intelligence, learning these skills could give someone stronger opportunities to secure jobs in the future.

How to register?

The sessions begin on Oct. 11 and will run every Saturday until Nov. 1. Each session will be held from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
