'Terrifying and scary': 15-year-old charged in mother's murder

CHATHAM COUNTY, Ga. () – A 15-year-old allegedly stabbed his mother to death in Chatham County Sunday night.

According to the Chatham County Police Department, officer found a 45-year-old women suffering from multiple “sharp force injuries” in her home on Berwick Lakes Boulevard after they were called for a reported stabbing.

“I don’t have words to put…I don’t have words to explain how sad it is,” one neighbor at Berwick Lakes said.

The woman eventually died from her injuries at the scene.

“I saw police flying through the neighborhood, and I saw firetrucks, more police, ambulances, and more and more and more police so I just knew something was wrong,” the neighbor said.

However, the alleged culprit was the last person many would’ve suspected.

“I heard there was a horrific event where a child took his mother’s life, and that is just terrifying and scary,” neighbor Katherine Osbourne said.

Chatham County police arrested the victim’s 15-year-old son at the scene and charged him with murder.

“It’s a pretty quiet neighborhood,” Osbourne said. “[We] have never seen anything wild like that.”

CCPD said they will not release the son’s name due to his age.
