CENTRAL ILLINOIS (WCIA) – Friday night was a thrilling showcase of high school basketball action in Central Illinois, featuring standout performances in both the girls’ state semifinals and the boys’ sectional finals.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
The Glenwood Titans emerged victorious over River Forest-Trinity with a 46-35 win in the 3A state semifinals, securing their spot in the championship game. They are set to face Washington on Saturday at 4 p.m. for the coveted state title.
Meanwhile, Mt. Pulaski achieved a hard-fought victory in overtime against Brown County, propelling them into the 1A state finals. The Hilltoppers will contend with Deer Creek-Mackinaw on Saturday morning at 10 a.m.
In the 2A division, Pleasant Plains faced a setback in the semifinals with a loss to Breese Central. However, they showed resilience by clinching a victory against Elgin-St. Edward in the third-place match, ending their tournament run on a high note.
