In a significant step toward enhancing nursing education, Galen College of Nursing, in partnership with Memorial Health, has inaugurated its brand-new campus in Savannah, Georgia. This expansion is timely, as the state grapples with a looming nursing shortage that ranks among the nation’s most severe.

The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) warns that by 2035, Georgia could experience a staggering 21% shortfall in its nursing workforce. This would equate to fewer than 750 nurses for every 100,000 residents, underscoring the urgency of initiatives like Galen’s.

This new addition, located at 500 Mosaic Circle in Pooler, marks Galen College’s 23rd campus nationwide and its inaugural presence in Georgia. The opening festivities included guided tours, engaging demonstrations, and a ceremonial ribbon-cutting at the expansive 67,000-square-foot facility.

Mark Vogt, CEO of Galen College of Nursing, hailed the launch of the Savannah campus as a pivotal development. “This is a momentous occasion that highlights Galen’s unwavering dedication to meeting Georgia’s pressing need for highly skilled and compassionate nurses,” he remarked.

“The opening of our new Savannah campus is a truly momentous occasion, signifying Galen’s deep commitment to addressing the critical need for highly skilled and compassionate nurses in Georgia,” said Mark Vogt, CEO of Galen College of Nursing.

Vogt said, “We are fully dedicated to providing students with the high-quality, focused nursing education and robust support needed to become confident, compassionate, and practice-ready nurses who will serve this vibrant community for years to come.”

The facility falls under all of Memorial Health’s Pooler services, which includes physicians, primary care and women’s care.

“Memorial Health is excited to partner with Galen College of Nursing to bring a new nursing school to southeast Georgia,” said Brad Talbert, CEO of Memorial Health. “Together, we are investing in the future of nursing.”

A two-year associate degree in nursing (ADN) will be offered with four class starts during the year. Other online programs are also offered for nurses wishing to advance their education.

Admissions appointments can be scheduled by calling (877) 223-7040 or visiting galencollege.edu.
