JENKINS COUNTY, Ga. () – The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has arrested a Perkins man Tuesday on several charges, after incidents were reported to the Jenkins County Sheriff’s office last week.
Wayne Leo Chance, age 51, was charged with one count of Disorderly Conduct, four counts of Terroristic Threats, and one count of Impersonating a Police Officer. Chance was arrested on Aug. 12, 2025, after he turned himself in to the Jenkins County Jail.
According to the Jenkins County Sheriff’s Office, Chance was a former employee. Because of the circumstances, the GBI became responsible for the case.
The GBI stated in an Aug. 13 press release that Chance allegedly confronted four people riding ATVs on a county-maintained road.
“At the time of the incident, Chance was driving a non-law enforcement vehicle equipped with activated construction-style warning lights,” the statement reads in part. “Chance reportedly portrayed himself as a police officer and made threats of violence toward the group.”
Once the investigation is complete, the Ogeechee Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office will prosecute the case.
