HINESVILLE, Ga. () — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is investigating the death of a wanted Maryland man who barricaded himself in a home.
According to a press release issued by GBI early Saturday, Daquan Phillips, 26, was found with a gunshot wound after officials made entry into the home he had barricaded himself in.
The incident occurred after hours of unsuccessful communication with Phillips.
Phillips was later pronounced dead by the Liberty County Coroner’s Office (LCCO).
A 5-year-old child was found in the home, unharmed.
Multiple law enforcement agencies reported to the scene, including the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office, the Hinesville Police Department, Savannah Police Department SWAT, the McIntosh County Sheriff’s Office, and Georgia State Patrol.
GBI stated that Phillips’ body will be taken to the GBI Crime Lab in Pooler where an autopsy will be performed.
This is an ongoing investigation.
