ATLANTA (AP) – Three inmates who made a daring escape from a jail located east of Atlanta, including one facing murder charges, have been captured in Florida, according to a representative from a federal fugitive task force.

Eric Heinze, who serves as the assistant chief inspector with the U.S. Marshals Service Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force, refrained from disclosing additional information prior to a scheduled news briefing in Atlanta later on Tuesday.

The breakout from DeKalb County Jail was identified early Monday during a routine security check, as reported by the county sheriff’s office.

“We are addressing this security breach with utmost seriousness and are committed to swiftly bringing these individuals back into custody,” stated DeKalb County Sheriff Melody Maddox in a release before the fugitives were captured. Officials have yet to disclose how the escape was orchestrated.

The fugitives range in age from 24 to 31. The youngest is accused of murder and armed robbery, while the other two face charges including armed robbery and arson.

The sheriff’s office had warned that the men might be armed and were considered dangerous after their escape.

The jail is in Decatur, about 10 miles (16 kilometers) east of downtown Atlanta.
