ALBANY, Ga. () – On January 30th, 2025, a woman contacted the Albany Police Department to report a 30-year-old incest case. She said she did an ancestry test and found that she was related to her mother’s stepfather.

The woman’s mother, who is now in her 50’s, reported the abuse to her own mother, but nothing was ever done.

The woman said her mother revealed that her stepfather started having sex with her from age 6 until she was 14 when she became pregnant.

Investigators sent subpoenas for doctor records, school reports, and DNA samples from the mother, daughter, and step-father. It was later confirmed that 67-year-old Larry Summerlin had intercourse with his stepdaughter when she was 14.

Summerlin was taken to the Dougherty County Jail from his home in Lee County, Georgia.

He was charged with Rape, Child Molestation, Incest, Sexual Battery, and Sodomy.
