JONES COUNTY, Ga. () – On July 23rd, Investigators with the Jones County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home in Gray, Georgia, where they believed Nichole Lewis was hiding.

Lewis had multiple outstanding warrants from Jones, Baldwin, and Putnam Counties — including charges for fleeing and eluding, possession of controlled substances with intent to distribute, obstruction, and failure to appear.

At the scene, deputies encountered Ashley Wilkes, who was already wanted for helping Lewis avoid capture.

As officers searched the home, Lewis was nowhere to be found — until they discovered a hidden compartment inside a dresser where she was stashed away.

Inside the room, deputies also located a quantity of suspected methamphetamine.

Both Lewis and Wilkes were arrested and transported to the Law Enforcement Center.
