SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets maintain their undefeated streak, Savannah State celebrates a victorious Homecoming, while Kirk Cousins and the Falcons stumble against Miami.
Here’s a comprehensive look at recent football action across Georgia.
#5 Georgia vs Florida Gators – After a bye week, the 6-1 Georgia Bulldogs are set to clash with the 3-4 Florida Gators in Athens. The game kicks off at 3:30 PM on November 1st, airing on ABC.
Georgia Southern vs Arkansas State – Georgia Southern could not recover after Arkansas State scored 10 unanswered points in the fourth quarter, leading to a 34-24 defeat. The Eagles now hold a 3-5 record for the season.
Quarterback JC French IV exhibited strong performance, completing 18 of 24 passes for 208 yards and two touchdowns. French IV also contributed on the ground with 18 carries, adding 39 yards and a rushing touchdown to his stats.
Georgia Southern’s only other points came on a 21-yard field goal from Freshman kicker Tripp Bryant.
The Eagles will have a few extra days of rest as their next matchup is on Thursday, Nov. 6, against the 4-4 App State Mountaineers.
#8 Georgia Tech vs Syracuse – Another week ends with another win for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. The team is now 8-0 on the year and is the #8-ranked team in the country.
QB Haynes King added another strong performance to his resume as he was 25 of 31 on the day for 304 yards and three passing touchdowns. King also led the team in rushing with 12 carries for 91 yards and two touchdowns.
The Yellow Jackets will now head on the road to keep the win streak alive as they head into Raleigh to take on the 4-4 NC State Wolfpack. You can catch the game Saturday on ESPN2 at 7:30 p.m.
Savannah State vs Morehouse College – Homecoming weekend ended in success as the Tigers got a 24-16 win over Morehouse College. A big part of the win has to go to Savannah State scoring 17 unanswered points in the second and third quarters.
Freshman QB RaShawn Truell was 13 of 21 passing for 129 yards and one touchdown. Graduate Student Jadon Adams also got in on the air attack, connecting on a five-yard pass for a touchdown.
Savannah State’s third touchdown came thanks to RB David Gardner Jr. The Graduate Student ball carrier finished the day with 17 carries for 50 yards and one score.
The Tigers will now take their 4-4 record on the road to face the 7-1 Albany State University Golden Rams. Kickoff will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at ASU Coliseum in Albany.
Atlanta Falcons vs Miami Dolphins – The Falcons’ losing streak continues for a second week in a row as they fall to the Miami Dolphins 34-10.
Veteran QB Kirk Cousins made his first start of the season in place of injured QB Michael Penix Jr. Cousins was 21 of 31 for 173 yards on the day.
Atlanta’s only touchdown on the day came on a 6-yard rushing touchdown by RB Tyler Allgeier. Allgeier finished the day with four carries for four rushing yards.
The Falcons will now make their way up to Foxborough to take on the 6-2 New England Patriots. Kickoff for the game is scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Sunday on CBS.
