SAVANNAH, Ga. () — Girl Scouts from across the nation gathered in Savannah Saturday for a special celebration of growth, tradition, and sisterhood known as “Bridging Savannah’s Bridge.”
This one-of-a-kind event, where girls symbolically “bridge” to the next level of Girl Scouting by walking across the Talmadge Bridge, is an annual event. Hosted by Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia, the ceremony honors the transition girls make as they move from one Girl Scout level to the next—from Daisies to Brownies, Brownies to Juniors and all the way up through Ambassadors.
“It’s definitely a once in a lifetime thing. People come from all over the country. We had some girls in Puerto Rico here today, who were very excited to join us,” said Eva O’Donnell with the Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia.
Leading the way was Krystal Crawford, the new CEO of the Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia. Crawford, who encouraged everyone to enjoy the beauty of Savannah while celebrating the Girl Scouts. “We just had one of our new hybrid ferries named after Juliet Gordon Low [the founder of the Girl Scouts], so come out and enjoy a beautiful ride on the Savannah River to celebrate the achievements of our Girl Scouts!”
