Glynn County Police Nab Suspect in Foiled Armed Robbery Attempt

GLYNN COUNTY, Ga. () – Authorities in Glynn County have apprehended a suspect linked to a botched armed robbery attempt that took place on Saturday.

On January 31, at approximately 2:51 p.m., officers from the Glynn County Police Department (GCPD) responded to a robbery alert at a business on the 700 block of Scranton Road. Upon arrival, store staff reported that a man had assaulted them while trying to steal money from the cash register.

The suspect ultimately escaped the scene without obtaining any cash. Investigations revealed that the suspect was armed with a knife during the ordeal. Officers utilized a K-9 unit to scour the vicinity in an effort to track him down.

Police identified the suspect as 29-year-old Joshua Hurtado from Brunswick, who was subsequently apprehended and taken to GCPD Headquarters for interrogation. With search warrants in hand, detectives conducted searches of Hurtado’s home and a vehicle linked to the crime.

Following these developments, Hurtado was remanded to the Glynn County Detention Center, facing multiple charges:

  • Criminal Attempt to Commit Armed Robbery
  • Aggravated Assault
  • Possession of a Knife During the Commission of Certain Crimes  

Hurtado was also arrested on unrelated charges, including First-Degree Burglary, and multiple outstanding arrest warrants.
