A grand jury in Los Angeles has been presented with evidence concerning the death of Celeste Rivas Hernandez, a teenage runaway whose body was discovered on September 8 in a Tesla linked to the recording artist D4vd, according to various media reports.
The Los Angeles Times, referencing information from two law enforcement sources, revealed that the district attorney’s office has recently shared evidence with an investigative grand jury. This type of grand jury can be summoned to subpoena witnesses, gather evidence, and potentially recommend charges. Although it remains unclear whether the proceedings have concluded, reports indicate that several witnesses have already testified.
The news of the grand jury emerges in the midst of a legal move by police to prevent the Los Angeles Medical Examiner from releasing the autopsy results of Hernandez. In a court filing associated with this decision, a detective described the ongoing efforts as “an investigation into murder.”
