JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. (WJHL) — A woman was arrested by Washington County sheriff’s deputies on three counts of assault against first responders.

According to a release from the Washington County Sheriff’s office, deputies responded to a domestic disturbance around midnight Aug. 23 on Hales Chapel Road. While speaking with the complainants, Helton allegedly came out of the residence and began confronting one of the complainants.

When a deputy told Helton to return to the residence, she struck a deputy with a closed fist in his temple, according to the sheriff’s office. Deputies tried to restrain Helton, who reportedly resisted by kicking, scratching, and grabbing them.

All deputies sustained injuries while taking Helton into custody.

Helton is being held in the Washington County Detention Center on a $5,000 bond. She will appear in court on Aug. 25.
