GROVETOWN, Ga. () – Around midday on Friday, March 27, officers from the Grovetown Police Department were dispatched to the 600 block of Kingfisher Way following reports of a disturbance involving a person.

Upon their arrival, the officers encountered 19-year-old Antalaysia Joe, a home healthcare aide, engaged in a dispute with the homeowner, who was also her patient.

The patient explained to the police that her usual caregiver had been absent due to illness since Wednesday, during which time Joe was assigned to take over her care.

According to the patient, she had been left in the same adult diaper for two days and had only received a single meal since Wednesday.

Joe was taken to the Grovetown Police Department, where she reportedly informed the officers that her inability to change the patient’s diaper was due to her not being physically strong enough to do so.

Joe further stated that the patient said that she “wasn’t hungry” when asked.

Joe was subsequently charged with one count of Neglect to a Disabled Adult, Elder Person, or Resident committed to the Columbia County Detention Center.
