AUGUSTA, Ga. () — Savannah native Brian Harman looks his major championship to resume. Harman said he was in good form after his practice round on Tuesday at Augusta National Golf Club.
The 2023 Open Championship winner looks to join a rare club of people. Harman seeks to become the fifth person to win the Masters the week after winning on the PGA tour. The last person to accomplish the feat was Phil Mickleson back in 2006.
Harman won the Valero Texas Open on April 6 by three strokes. He did not have an ideal final round as he shot three over par. He finished the tournament nine shots under par, three shots ahead of the nearest competitor.
Speaking to the media on Tuesday, Harman said he got in late on Sunday because of winning his previous tournament.
“It’s a quick turnaround,” Harman said. “I mean, this place has a way of kind of snapping you back to reality. It’s really challenging. There’s a lot of shots you have to pull off here. This place can make you look silly sometimes. Trying to be as sharp as I can come Thursday.”
In the first round, Harman tees off at 9:14 a.m. He is paired with Corey Connors and Stephan Jaeger. As for the second round, he will start at 12:22 p.m.
