(NewsNation) — On Thursday, the Washington National Cathedral hosted the funeral service for former Vice President Dick Cheney, drawing a congregation of esteemed dignitaries to honor his memory.

Among those present were former Presidents Joe Biden and George W. Bush, who was Cheney’s presidential partner from 2001 to 2009. Accompanying them were former First Ladies Jill Biden and Laura Bush, respectively.

In his eulogy, Bush recounted, “He embodied everything a president could wish for in a vice president. I recall my father’s advice when I shared my decision with him—’Son, you couldn’t choose a finer man.'”
