A tragic incident unfolded in Indian River County, Florida, as law enforcement personnel across the state mourn the loss of a deputy from the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office. The deputy was fatally shot on Friday while carrying out an eviction notice.
According to Indian River County Sheriff Eric Flowers, the harrowing event occurred in Vero Beach where three deputies were executing an eviction. As they entered the residence, the suspect opened fire on the officers.
Deputy Terri Mashcow, a dedicated member of the sheriff’s office for 25 years, was killed in the line of duty during the confrontation. Another deputy sustained a shoulder injury from the gunfire, and a locksmith present at the scene also suffered injuries, necessitating surgical intervention.
In the wake of this tragedy, numerous law enforcement agencies expressed their heartfelt condolences. The St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office, led by Sheriff Richard Del Toro, shared their deepest sympathies. “We extend our deepest sympathies to the family, friends, and colleagues of the Indian River County Sheriff’s deputy who tragically lost their life this morning while serving an eviction notice.
