VALDOSTA, Ga. — One airman’s long-held wish recently took flight, thanks to the commendable efforts of a military-focused charity. Miles for Military fulfilled U.S. Air Force Airman First Class Crystal Boyd’s dream of reuniting with her loved ones at their family gathering.
Boyd, stationed in California, faced a three-year absence from her tight-knit family’s annual reunion, longing for the chance to reconnect amidst her service commitments.
However, on a memorable Saturday, Miles for Military transformed that longing into reality. This imaginative nonprofit allows active-duty service members to earn flights through volunteering at a charity of their choice, effectively bridging the gap between distance and desire.
This year’s reunion held special significance as it marked the 50th such gathering for Boyd’s family, with an impressive turnout of nearly 250 relatives and friends expected to join in the celebration.
To date, Miles for Military has successfully transported 1,000 service members like Boyd back to their homes, with the ambitious aim of reaching 5,000 completed flights by 2026, illustrating their unwavering dedication to supporting our military heroes.
