Heartwarming Teddy Bear Tale Sparks Generosity for MUSC Children’s Hospital Fundraiser

CHARLESTON, S.C. — A heartwarming story about a lost teddy bear that captivated the Lowcountry community is now paving the way for a day dedicated to giving back.

Halls Chophouse has teamed up with the renowned plush toy company GUND to host their inaugural Teddy Bear Lunch on June 6. This special event aims to support children undergoing treatment at the MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital.

Halls Chophouse has announced that a portion of the proceeds from each ticket sold will be donated to the cause. Additionally, GUND will be gifting a Forever Friends plush toy to a child at the hospital, spreading joy and comfort where it’s most needed.

The inspiration for this event stems from a touching tale involving “Bearsy,” a cherished GUND Toothpick teddy bear that was inadvertently left at Halls Chophouse. Thanks to an overwhelming wave of community support, Bearsy found its way back to its young owner, sparking the idea to turn this joyful reunion into an opportunity to bring happiness to more children.

“The community’s wonderful response to Bearsy’s journey and their efforts to reunite the teddy with its owner truly inspired us,” shared Tommy Hall, principal of Hall Management Group. “We’re excited to join forces with the amazing team at GUND to deliver comfort and smiles to the courageous kids at MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital.”

Halls Chophouse says from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., attendees will enjoy a family-friendly lunch featuring special menu offerings from the restaurant’s culinary team, along with activities designed to spread a little extra joy. Children attending the event will create handmade cards for patients at MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital and take home their own GUND Forever Friend plush.

The Forever Friends collection was designed with stories like Bearsy’s in mind. Each plush includes a unique QR code that allows owners to register their stuffed animal and helps reconnect lost plush toys with their families. If a toy is not reunited within 30 days, GUND will replace it free of charge under its Forever Friends Promise, according to Halls Chophouse.

Tickets are $25 for children ages 12 and younger and include a prix fixe children’s menu, dessert, and a GUND Forever Friend to take home. Adult tickets are $50 and include a two-course prix fixe menu, dessert, and the donation of a GUND plush to a child at MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital.

Advanced tickets are required.
