Today kicked off with temperatures ranging from the upper 60s to the low 70s. Underneath a blend of sunshine and clouds, the temperatures will climb to a seasonally warm zone, reaching the low to mid 90s. The weather will echo yesterday’s conditions, being hot yet less humid compared to earlier this week, thanks to high pressure ushering in drier air and lowering the dewpoints. It’s anticipated to stay dry as well.
As we wrap up the work week and head into the holiday weekend, expect temperatures to escalate into the mid to upper 90s. While mostly dry conditions will prevail, the high pressure system will slowly drift off the East Coast. During the afternoon, the heat index could hit triple digits, soaring up to 105°.
This 4th of July could be as sizzling as the fireworks with record-challenging temperatures! The historic high for Independence Day in Savannah stands at 99°, noted in 1931, 1954, 1979, and 1997. We’re forecasting highs in the upper 90s, with heat index readings hovering between 105-110°. It’s crucial to stay hydrated and find ways to keep cool!
A few afternoon storms might come with strong gusty winds. However, by Saturday evening, when it’s time for fireworks, the storms should taper off. Post-sunset, temperatures will dip into the low 80s, although it will remain humid with a heat index in the lower 90s.
Starting Sunday through next week, hit-or-miss storms will be back in the forecast with high temperatures in the mid 90s.
