GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — A chilling incident unfolded at a Walmart in Greensboro, North Carolina, that could have ended in tragedy.
London Green and his girlfriend, Adasia Allen, shared with Nexstar’s WGHP that their visit to Walmart that evening was unplanned.
“As we were exiting, we heard a woman shouting, ‘Help, help!’” Green described.
The police reported that a woman was stabbed in the Walmart parking lot at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
“I saw her clutching her neck, blood gushing between her fingers, and everyone was stepping away from her,” Green recounted.
Green didn’t know the victim, but in the middle of the chaos, he became the person she needed the most. In those few minutes, before first responders arrived, Green’s quick actions may have made all the difference.
“I guess God came over me and told me to just be the one to help, you know what to do, so go help,” he added. Relying on his military training, Green knew he had to put pressure on the victim’s deep neck wound using paper towel another bystander handed him.
“She kept saying, once I helped her, ‘Somebody call my mom, I want to talk to my mom.’ It just made me realize, OK, life…cherish people around you,” Green said. “I don’t know the lady, I just pray that she’s OK.”
As that woman continues to recover, Green says he is thankful that he was in the right place at the right time to help save a life.
A 52-year-old woman was taken into custody last week in connection with the stabbing. According to Greensboro Police, Tokyia Brown allegedly stabbed the woman, a Walmart employee, after moving a shopping cart into the woman’s vehicle. Brown said something to the Walmart employee, the prosecutor explained in court last week, and the employee then got out of her vehicle.
Warrants accused Brown of using something sharp on a keychain to then stab the Walmart employee.
The woman tried to run into the store as other employees called 911. While she was taken to the hospital for injuries that were deemed to be non-life-threatening, authorities said she required surgery.
Brown, meanwhile, was found near the Walmart store and taken into custody. She has since been charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, inflicting serious injury. She was being held without bond.
