KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A harrowing incident unfolded on the Mamba roller coaster at Worlds of Fun amusement park when a young girl’s seatbelt unexpectedly unfastened just as the ride descended its first hill, according to KCTV in Kansas City, Missouri.
During the mid-October event, a couple riding the coaster heard panicked screams emanating from behind them. The alarming cries led them to discover the girl’s precarious situation, KCTV reported.
Reacting swiftly, the couple reached back to secure the girl in her seat, ensuring her safety amidst the high-speed thrills of the ride.
“I thought it might have been her first experience on the ride,” said Chris Evins to KCTV, recounting the moment. “Then she mentioned that her seatbelt had come undone.”
In response to the incident, the Missouri theme park reaffirmed that the ride’s restraint system had undergone inspection and was confirmed to meet all safety standards before allowing guests to board once again.
