Student criminally charged after altercation at Lakeside High School

EVANS, Ga. () – A Lakeside High School student has been criminally charged after an altercation left one student injured on Wednesday, according to the Columbia County School District.

In a letter sent to parents on Feb. 5, the situation took place between two students in the gymnasium.

An investigation by the Columbia County School District Police said the student facing criminal charges is also being held accountable according to the code of conduct.

The letter reads in part, “The safety of students and staff is a top priority, and inappropriate physical contact of any nature is prohibited by law and the code of conduct. This behavior will not be tolerated at Lakeside High School. Suspicious activity should immediately be reported to a teacher, school administrator or the Columbia County School District Police.”
