MAHOMET, Ill. (WCIA) — Mahomet-Seymour High School senior Caroline Parrott earned her Gold Award this year. It’s the highest honor a Girl Scout can earn.
The teenager is being recognized after creating a trick or treat closet at her school. It helps hundreds of kids get Halloween costumes and goody bags. Those include a toothbrush and toothpaste.
Parrott said she got the idea after seeing some students not being able to dress up and properly celebrate the holiday.
“I wanted to, like, get costumes for those kids so those events could continue because I really like those events when I was a kid,” Parrott said. “And then also the dental aspect came in because she also saw that there was a lot of like dental need. And I know that that’s true, too, because I’ve seen it.”
She said they’re already putting a plan together for the trick or treat closet this year.
